To provide habilitation and skill building to enable the participant to acquire and maintain skills, which support more independence to live in community settings.

Hours will currently be Monday thru Friday 8:00 am- 2:30 pm and some Saturdays from 8:00 am- 2:00 pm. Please note that hours are subject to change without notice.

General Responsibilities of Community Living and Support Paraprofessional
Education/Experience/Other Requirements: Must be 20 years old with High School Diploma or high school
equivalency (GED) and able to read, write, understand, and follow directions. Must meet the definition for paraprofessional or associate professional as in 10A NCAC 27G .0104(15). Must have no substantiated findings on the NC Health Care Abuse Registry and not be listed on the HHS/OIG List of Excluded Individual/Entities. SBI and DMV records must meet the requirements of LME/MCO contracts. General requirements if position requires transporting consumer: All employees must have a valid driver’s license and 3 full years of driving experience, no DWI on their driving record for at least the past 7 years, a safe driving record, and an acceptable level of automobile liability insurance.
Experience with persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred but not required. The following trainings are required: CPR, First Aid, NCI A, Client Rights & Confidentiality, OSHA, HIPAA, Community Living and Support Service Definition & Documentation, Person-Centered Thinking, Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Overview, and Client Specific Needs Competencies are required.
